Lesson Plans & Student Writing Made Easy with Templates
Does your classroom include students who struggle with writing skills? Is it difficult for you to find the time to create lesson plans? Your students' writing (and your job) can be made easier when templates are available to help jumpstart your and your students' work. Kurzweil 3000 provides two dozen writing templates for students and is supplemented with five templates for teachers. In this webinar, Suzanne Feit, national consultant and trainer, will demonstrate how to help your students improve their writing skills using the Kurzweil 3000 templates and how you can benefit from the teacher-focused templates. You will learn:
- Which template - graphic organizer, outline, or draft - is appropriate for each student.
- How each template walks a student through the writing process, from the creation of the title through a checklist that allows them to check their final work.
- How to create a lesson plan (and more) using the Kurzweil 3000 teacher templates.
Sign up even if you can't attend. We'll send a link to the recording on the day after the event.

Watch >Using Kurzweil 3000 for Test Making and Test Taking
Kurzweil 3000 includes unique test-taking capabilities widely used by teachers and students in regular instruction and as a testing accommodation for students with special needs. Using Kurzweil 3000, students can independently complete worksheets, classroom tests and standardized tests with greater confidence and fewer mistakes. Students can confidently answer fill-in-the-blank, multiple choice, true/false, short answer, essay and other test question formats.
If you are still reading tests to your students, and your goal is to encourage independence and test for comprehension, I am sure you can make better use of your valuable time. Attend this webinar to learn how to make almost every test accessible to the Kurzweil user. The students will be grateful too; they rarely ask readers to repeat a question, and they are unable to review previous questions.
We will demonstrate how to convert your current test into a Kesi file; whether the test is in MS Word, a PDF downloaded from the web or a file you scanned into the computer using a scanner or even a mouse! Once the test is a Kesi file, you can password protect the file. In addition, features such as reference guides, access to the Internet and other Kurzweil features can be disabled. This webinar will not only outline the steps for creating and setting up tests, there will be an informative step-by-step handout distributed at the end of the webinar.

Watch >School, Work, Holiday Stress - And the Mindfulness Path Through It All
Students and teachers alike feel the negative effects of stress in school, whether it's because pressure is being put on teachers and students to meet new standards or because of the approaching holidays. School psychologist Anthony Pantaleno, PhD, will explore the role of mindfulness-based stress reduction in managing some of the most common stress points we all encounter. MBSR is a method of intentionally dwelling in present moment awareness without the negative judgments that our human brains seem to generate 24 hours a day. In this webinar, you will explore the sources of this stress and learn about both mental health and assistive technology solutions to help schools adapt to the changes they may encounter.
Participants will:
- Develop a basic understanding of the biology of stress
- Understand why mindfulness is a natural antidote to our stressful lives
- Learn how to teach their students how to manage added pressure through MBSR and by using assistive technology as a learning tool
- Participate in a live mindfulness of the breath practice followed by a Q&A session
- Receive a list of MBSR resources for further exploration on their own
Following Dr. Pantaleno's presentation, a product expert will provide a short demonstration of the tools in the Kurzweil 3000-firefly that can help alleviate some of the stress experienced by students.
